This is a specialized course designed to provide an effective ‘tool-kit’ for addressing the needs of this growing demographic.

In this course you will learn how to:

• Identify a variety of cardiac conditions, pre-diabetes, Type II diabetes and obesity and their associated symptoms
• Become familiar with common medications for these conditions and their effects on human performance
• Discuss and advise on lifestyle choices – nutrition, general fitness guidelines, effects of good and bad stress, etc.
• Effectively communicate with your client’s family physician and/or dietician
• Prescribe appropriate exercises for each condition

First Line will provide course notes for both the lecture and practical components. By the end of the course, you will have a good understanding of the exercise requirements for these client groups.

Please bring your own lunch or plan to buy it at a local restaurant. Snacks will be provided. Recommendations for local shops and restaurants will be provided at the course.
